This year it whas time to go to Italy again and visit the former battlefields.
In the first week we went to Belfort to see the spot where the first German and the first Frenchman who died in the first world war. On the website of the WFA England is a article about the two soldiers here.
We also visit there grave's
Then is was to Italy. And the first walk was in the Lagazuoi area to see the place were was a old Austrian cemetary.
The second walk was to the Seikofel in the Karnische alps, This was a Austrian stong point which was in 1915 the scene of intense fighting.
Day three was to the Plöckenpass also in the Karnische alps. In Kötschach-Mauthen is a very good museum about the Italian battlefiels from the Ortler to the Adriatic. Some more info about the pass and the association which reconstructs sides around the Dolomiten is to be found here. (In German)
The fourth day was to the Karnische alps and now the Hornischegg which was part of the main front in the area.
And the Last was the Sextner rotwand where there was a open air museum of reconstruct trenches. Here is the website from the association which did the reconstruction.
